Associate Editor Needed for Theatre Survey

Theatre Survey will need a new Associate Editor as of January 2021, when Marlis Schweitzer completes her term as Editor and the current Associate Editor, Brandi Catanese, steps into the Editor position.

The successful applicant will serve two years in the Associate position, then transitioning to Editor, where s/he will serve for an additional two years.

A fuller description of the responsibilities of the Editor and Associate Editor is in the ASTR handbook. Material about Theatre Survey and the Editors’ jobs starts around page 95, with a detailed description of the Associate Editor position on page 100.

Applicants should be tenured at their institutions, should have some editorial experience, and should have institutional support. “Institutional support” can take many forms, including course releases, student assistants, or additional office space. This is not a comprehensive list.

If you are interested, please send a letter of application and a c.v. no later than September 1, 2020, to Dorothy Chansky, Vice President for Publications, at dorothychansky[at]gmail.com. Your letter should include a discussion of your experience, a statement of why you are interested in the position, indication that you have read the apposite section(s) of the handbook and understand them, and possibly your history with ASTR.

If you have questions, please feel free to email Dorothy ahead of the application deadline.
