|Selma Jeanne Cohen Conference Presentation Award|
This award provides up to $1000 to a scholar to participate in a plenary or working session at the ASTR conference. This presentation must, in the spirit of Selma Jeanne Cohen, explore the intersections of theatre and dance/movement. Funds shall be used to cover travel and hotel expenses. The purpose of the award is to encourage scholars in dance and movement-based fields to become active members of ASTR by helping them to meet the travel and hotel expenses of attending and presenting at the ASTR annual meeting. ASTR conference registration fees will be waived for award recipients.
Any independent, tenured or untenured scholar, graduate student, postdoctorate, and faculty are eligible to apply. Applicants for this award may propose to present a plenary paper, organize a working session, or present in a working session at the 2020 ASTR conference following the standard procedures. Proposals to join a working session should be sent to the session convener by the deadline for working sessions.
Application must include:
Please upload application documents in PDF or Microsoft Word (.doc, or .docx) format. Whenever possible, all requested materials should be consolidated into a single zip file before being uploaded.
The committee will choose the winner based on the promise of the applicant's work in bridging scholarship in theatre and dance/movement fields.
Please direct questions to Committee Chair Jade Power-Sotomayor at jypower[at]ucsd.edu.
Note: In the event that a person is chosen to receive more than one award to help defray the costs of attending the ASTR conference, that person will receive the money associated with the larger of the two awards but will be acknowledged as a winner of both. The relevant awards committees shall have the right to disburse monies unspent by the award recipient to support additional worthy applicants.
We are not accepting applications for this award in 2020.
