|ASTR Collaborative Research Award|
To foster the exchange of research across different academic and community contexts within the U.S. or between U.S. scholars/artists and those abroad. To foster long-term relationships benefiting faculty who work in different types of institutional environments. To foster the exchange of research in subject areas underrepresented in U.S. theatre scholarship, pedagogy, and performance practice. To enrich and diversify ASTR’s membership.
The exchange would take the form of collaboration on scholarly or creative research. The award facilitates reciprocal visits by faculty between two U.S. institutions, or the hosting of a faculty member from abroad at a U.S. institution (or vice versa). All faculty named in the application should be involved in the application’s development. Applicants are encouraged to seek matching funds from their home institutions. In specific circumstances, the award could be used for a one-way visit by a scholar or artist from an under-resourced institution, if the application otherwise fulfills the objectives of the award.
Project outcomes might include:

Awardees will be asked to make a timely report on the project, to be made available to the executive committee at the annual meeting. The amount awarded is $1,750. Please note that this amount may be split among recipients.
At least one participant from a host institution must be a current ASTR member.
Applications must include:
Applications should be uploaded below as attachments (.pdf, .doc, or .docx).
The award committee will base their evaluation on the degree to which the proposed exchange and outcomes fulfill the purposes of the award. Priority will be given to applications that involve faculty at teaching institutions, institutions currently underrepresented in ASTR’s membership, and/or institutions that do not traditionally sponsor visiting scholars or artists. Please direct questions to Karen Jean Martinson, Committee Chair.
The deadline for this award has passed.
Please Note: Whenever possible, application document materials should be consolidated into a single zip file before being uploaded.
