The American Society for Theatre Research (ASTR) is a U.S.-based professional organization that fosters scholarship on worldwide theatre and performance, both historical and contemporary.

The Officers and Executive Committee members are chosen by the ASTR membership in annual elections and serve staggered three-year terms to preserve continuity. All terms begin and end at the business meeting in November of the designated years.
